Altering the softness or loudness of the music file, diffusing and noise reduction, fade in and fade out of sounds and musical scoring are only a few of the features of some of the audio editing tools available for download on the internet. Editing such audio files is not that easy—you need to be at least familiar with the different tools of editing programs since one wrong click can ruin your entire sound clip.
I have tried to edit some sound files (I’m an amateur, not a professional one); tried to grope around the interface of the audio editor and luckily, have produced magnificent sounds.

Norwegian hacker “DVD Jon” best known for his software that can bypasses copying restrictions on DVDs has developed a new program that can rid of digital rights management restrictions on iTunes. W00t to the Mac peeps out there!
Anyway, the software known as DoubleTwist (released by a company in Sa Francisco), can actually allow users to convert DRM-protected tracks into MP3 files which can then be played on any portable device besides the iPod. Obvious target - songs sold at Apple’s iTunes. Not only that, DoubleTwist also allows people to transfer photos from Facebook pages to cell phones.
Of course, the question still remains, “Is it legal?”

More hardware than software but the Firebox USB Cassette Deck is a tape to mp3 converter that looks like a double tape deck that can be connected to the computer via USB connection. It can also be connected to an amplifier for tape-to-tape dubbing. It has two kinds of software one for copying. One is a copying wizard and the other one using Audacity for editing. According to the review, the software programs have some minor quirks but all in all, Firebox USB Cassette Deck is one of the better alternatives in cassette to mp3 converters out there.

Not so much a software-related article…
Give it up for the old school! Yep, people of my generation and older will surely like the novelty of this cute MP3 player, especially since it looks much like a tape. Although it has no internal memory, this player has external memory that is SD/MMC card compatible with space of max.2GB. It is also compatible with Windows 2000 and XP. Whats cool about it is that it can act as a stand alone MP3 player while it can also be played as a normal cassette player (cool if your car has a tape deck). It has a 7 button interface and has a repeat playback mode. It can be recharged by USB cable.
